Statement
I love to look for the brightness of warm sunlight and deep cool shadows. I try to push colors and be expressive where possible. There is an adventure in every painting.
Biography
I've always been an artist, whether it was my 8-yr-old self trying to build an intense color story with a box or 16 Crayolas or later as a student of illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. And then still as a professional creative, designing everything from licensed apparel graphics for the NFL to space travel animations for NASA — all in pixels instead of paint.
I soon discovered that though I loved a good pixel, they weren't the best for my mental health. After all, creating in the digital space relegated me to indoor spaces with sweeping views of, well, a computer screen. Not the most inspiring way to live for a guy who grew up hiking in the Baltimore/Loch Raven watershed and surfing in Ocean City, Maryland. It was time to get back to basics and flip the script, or sketchbook, in my creative life. Since my artistic epiphany, I've been heading outdoors with an easel, pallet, and paintbrush every chance I get to discover all the beauty of my little Historic town of Ellicott City, Maryland, and the surrounding DelMarVa has to offer. Along the way, I've also discovered creating art outdoors is challenging, humbling, and altogether rewarding. I know I have a lot to learn, but I'm enjoying the process, and it's my sincere hope you might enjoy some of these paintings. Think of them as guideposts on my journey to personal sanity and artistic freedom.
